Richard Artschwager

Artschwager was born in Washington, DC, and spent most of his youth in New Mexico. Her entered Cornell University in 1941 and received his B.A.. After serving in the Army during WWII, he began to study art in New York City. By the mid 1950s he was designing furniture to support his family. His art is in many private and public collections including The Whitney Museum of American Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and The Tate Modern in London.
