They may not realize that as a senior editor at Canaveral Press in the 1960s he was responsible for the publication of Tales of Three Planets, Tarzan and the Castaways, and other first editions that have since become treasured collectors' items. He was also the author of more than forty novels and more than a hundred short stories, as well as important volumes of criticism and cultural history, including The Great American Paperback; All in Color for a Dime; The Comic-Book Book; the Writer series, volumes 1-4; and Where Memory Hides: A Writer's Life. A film based on his story "12:01 P.M." was an Academy Award nominee. See less
