Dr Rhys Christopher Jones is a teaching fellow in statistics based in the department of statistics, and also the Director of the Science Scholars Programme at the Faculty of Science, both at the University of Auckland. Rhys teaches on an introductory course to statistics that has over 6000 students a year at the University of Auckland, across a range of disciplines, and enjoys the challenge of bringing the subject to light and convincing people of the value of being able to analyse and interpret data confidently. Rhys has degrees in biology, medical biochemistry, immunology, teacher training and also Education, and has held lecturing positions in Cardiff University, London South East College and Birmingham City University (BCU). Over his career he has taught a variety of subjects, mostly at undergraduate level, which include: statistics, quantitative methods, mathematics for science, analytical and inorganic chemistry, microbiology, biomedical science, nutrition and organic chemistry, health and wellbeing, genetics, and clinical anatomy and physiology.
