Rene Wellek

RENÉ WELLEK (1903-1995) was a Czech-American comparative literary critic. He taught at the University of Iowa for seven years before being hired at Yale University in 1946 where he was a professor of Slavic literature and was widely regarded as the founder of the study of comparative literature.
