Wedlock, Jr., is a native of Rhode Island and holds David H. Means Chair at the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he teaches constitutional and criminal Law. He has served as the Executive Editor of the Journal of Law & Education for more than twenty-five years and has been active in many progressive political and social movements in South Carolina.
