PETER KENNISON is a former London Police officer, university lecturer and Honorary Fellow in the School of Applied Social Sciences at the University of Brighton. Following a career in the Metropolitan Police Peter studied for his PHd on the subject of diversity and police complaints, graduating from Middlesex University in 2001. He became a Criminology Lecturer at Middlesex and Brighton having lectured on Policing, Community Safety and Child Protection at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Peter has co-written three books on Metropolitan Police Divisional history. In addition he has edited and written on child abuse and policing firearms and armed response. He is currently a researcher for the Police Roll of Honour Trust, a nationwide charity which aims to highlight and remember those police officers that have lost their lives in the line of duty. ALAN COOK is a former police officer, having recently completed a 30-year career with Essex Police. For many years he has collected and researched documents and items relating to the early developments of policing, and acts as an advisor to museums in the UK and abroad. Alan's first book, on police truncheons and tipstaves, was published in 2014. As well as being a researcher with the Police Roll of Honour Trust, he is a trustee with the Essex Police Memorial Trust and the Essex Police Museum. See less
