Paul Vedder is a lecturer and senior researcher in the Centre for Intercultural Pedagogics at Leiden University. He has published books and articles on young children's education and development, multicultural education and methodological and theoretical aspects of the assessment and improvement of quality in education. His special interest is the education and development of Afro-Caribbean children. Ellen Bouwer is a researcher in the Centre for Intercultural Pedagogics at Leiden University. She studies the relationship between early childhood education and development and children's later school careers and is particularly interested in the role of migrant parents' belief systems in this respect. Trees Pels is a senior researcher in the Institute for Sociological and Economic Research at Rotterdam University. She has published books and articles on immigrant children's socialisation and development, preschool and non-school education.
