Throughout his long career, Dr. Garrity had been a nonresident faculty fellow with the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia; a senior policy analyst at the Los Alamos National Laboratory; a research fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS); a visiting fellow at the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS); and an instructor at the Catholic University of America and the Naval Postgraduate School. His books include You Run the Show or the Show Runs You: Capturing Professor Harold W. Rood's Strategic Thought for a New Generation ; In Search of Monsters to Destroy? American Foreign Policy, Revolution, and Regime Change, 1776-1900 ; and A Sacred Union of Citizens: George Washington's Farewell Address and the American Character .
