Patrick Crough was employed with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office beginning in 1983 and recently retired while holding the position of Investigator Sergeant in charge of the Major Crimes-Special Victims Unit. He and his colleagues in the Major Crimes Unit investigated murders and other reported homicides, suspicious deaths, physical assaults that result in serious physical injury, sexual assaults, crimes against children, police-involved shootings, and conduct covert, special investigations per the authority of the Monroe County Sheriff. During the late 1990s, he was assigned to a federal violent crime task force and served as an undercover agent in a firearms suppression unit that proactively targeted convicted felons and violent criminals who trafficked and sold illegal firearms in western New York.
