Pat Riley was born on the Jersey Shore and was raised in Avon and Spring Lake. He received his college degrees from Miami Dade College and Florida Atlantic University. Pat spent a decade as a music executive in Boston and Miami before moving his family to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Pat's wife, Laura, is a visual artist, and his two lovely daughters-both cellists-are graduates of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Many of the characters in this work are based on people the author met while living and working in South Florida. For this novel, he researched the medical details with infectious disease specialists, immunologists, anesthesiologists, and neurotoxicologists. Although this work is fiction, the author's research adds realism to a timely and remarkable political thriller. See less
