Dr Namita Gupta is a Professor in the Centre for Human Rights and Duties, Panjab University, Chandigarh (India). Her research in the field of human rights is well acknowledged and has taken her to various countries. She has authored Environmental Administration in India: Issues and Concerns and has edited three books: Human Rights in India: Contemporary Issues and Challenges, Social Justice and Human Rights in India and Human Rights, Youth and Drugs. Besides this, she has published more than 45 research papers in national and international journals and books. She is the Vice President of the Thematic Group on Human Rights and Global Justice in the International Sociological Association and is a member of the editorial committee of the journal South Asia Research.
