Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chawla is the current Director of Research Society of Pakistan, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He has served at the University of Punjab as Head of the History Department; Director of Pakistan Study Centre; Dean of Art & Humanities; and Dean of Law, University of the Punjab. He acquired his MSc, MPhil, and PhD degrees from the Department of History, Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad and postdoc from the University of Southampton. Dr Chawla regularly appears on electronic and social media to share his knowledge on the colonial and postcolonial narratives of history. His articles on modern South Asian studies, particularly pre-partition Muslim politics, have been published in national and international journals. He has six books to his credit and the first edition of Wavell and the Dying Days of the Raj won the HEC Best Book of the Year Award 2010-2011. He is currently writing a book about Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy of India, from a fresh perspective. See less
