Phillip Knightley
Phillip Knightley was a special correspondent for the Sunday Times (1965-85) and one of the leaders of its Insight investigative team. He was British Press Awards Journalist of the Year in 1980 and 1988, one of only two journalists to have won it twice. Phillip Knightley was a special correspondent for the Sunday Times (1965-85) and one of the leaders of its Insight investigative team. He was British Press Awards Journalist of the Year in 1980 and 1988, one of only two journalists to have won it twice. He is the author of ten non-fiction books including bestseller The First Casualty: The War Correspondent as Hero and Myth-Maker, published in eight languages. He has lectured on journalism, law, war and espionage at City University London, Manchester University, University of Dusseldorf, Penn State, UCLA, Stanford, the Inner Temple, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He was on the management committee of The Society of Authors, London, for six years and is the European representative of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, Washington. He was awarded the Order of Australia in 2005 for services to journalism and as an author. He has an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from Sydney University and the City University, London. He is currently Visiting Professor of Journalism at Lincoln University, England. Born in Australia, Knightley has worked most of his life in Britain.
