Swiss author Monica Camuglia's goal is to instill in her readers a profound awareness of their own personal responsibility for a peaceful and balanced life. "I have always been fascinated by life stories and the playing out of individual destinies," she says, "but I began writing in earnest around four years ago after a crisis in my personal life. In some ways it was therapeutic, but it also opened doors to new understanding of life's challenges." Over a twenty-year professional career in teaching and business, Monica struggled to find balance and happiness in her life. At the peak of her success she decided to step away and focus on her inner wellbeing and her relationship with humanity. It was a journey that would lead her to explore psychology, philosophy and spirituality, and to discover a path she realized she had been traveling all her life: that of the writer. She recently published her first book, Fallacy 2012, a gripping story in which she weaves current theories about evolution and transformation into the lives of her characters. Her upcoming novels include Maria Magdalena, a love story between an American officer posted in Afghanistan and a sensitive, spiritual woman and explores the concept of a just war; Jam, which follows the life of a tormented woman who becomes increasingly obsessed with protecting her daughter from her ex-husband; and The Tooth, the story of a woman who struggles to overcome profound depression caused by the loss of a loved one and her own identity. Monica speaks four languages and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree from the Graduate School of Business Administration Horgen, in Switzerland. She lives with her daughter near the shores of Lake Zurich. See less
