At the time of this project's inception, Mona N. Bahouth, MD, MSN was the Project Manager for Advanced Practice Nursing at the University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore where she provided leadership for >100 NPs for the promotion of professional growth and systems for integration of NPs into hospital practice. From 1998 - 2006, she was Director for Clinical Programs and Research in the Department of Neurology at the Maryland Brain Attack Center. Dr. Bahouth has extensive experience in developing programs for NPs dating back to 1999 when she developed the first hospital wide NP group at the University of Maryland. She has published and lectured extensively on multiple topics including the process of NP transition into hospital based practice. These experiences were the impetus for the development of this text.
