Mike Lacey grew up in a family of ten children in the village of Sutton Courtenay, which was then in the county of Royal Berkshire. After leaving school at fifteen, without an exam to his name, he took up an apprenticeship in making medical instruments. Through his engineering career he worked at Harwell and in the power stations before working in the NHS, starting off as a fitter and then progressing to become a facilities manager. After having a heart attack in early 2001, he left the NHS to finish his working life at the Bodleian Library, before making a complete change and working as a court usher in a joint civil, family and criminal court. He is a keen amateur thespian and enjoys nothing more than being on stage with the members of Kingston Bagpuize Drama Group. For many years he has been an active member of the Oxfordshire Drama Network. At the age of 69 he decided that it was time for a new project and set out to put some of his poems into a book. See less
