Michael P. Speidel, received his PhD in ancient history at the University of Freiburg/Germany. Since 1968 he teaches ancient history at the University of Hawaii. A Corresponding Member of the German Archaeological Institute with more than a dozen books to his credit, he researches warrior elites of archaic societies.
