Michael O'Byrne joined the Royal Hong Kong Police in the sixties, aged 19, then moved on to the Metropolitan Police then the Surrey and Thames Valley forces, ending his police career as chief constable in Bedfordshire. He spends his time travelling and writing. Truth Stone is his first published novel; he is also author of The Crime Writer's Guide to Police Practice and Procedure (Robert Hale) and Changing Policing - Revolution not Evolution 2001.
