Lieutenant Mike Mason is a retired 29-year veteran of the fire service. As an officer with the Downers Grove Fire Department (Illinois), he was assigned to Truck 1 / Squad 1, and he is a Certified Instructor III and Fire Officer II. He holds an associate degree in fire science, as well as master's certificates in strategic and organizational leadership. Mason is also a senior staff instructor, director, and founder of the nonprofit organization RICOFIRERESCUE INC., which has trained over 6,000 firefighters of all ranks throughout the U.S., Canada, South America, Spain, Sweden, France, and Germany since 2001.
