Michael Clayton earned a bachelor of science from Iowa State University and served as USDA Agricultural Advisor in forward operating bases in extremely dangerous and violent locations in both Iraq and Afghanistan for over two years. Michael Clayton earned a bachelor of science from Iowa State University and served as USDA Agricultural Advisor in forward operating bases in extremely dangerous and violent locations in both Iraq and Afghanistan for over two years. He won multiple awards, including the Certificate of Appreciation from the Secretary of Agriculture and the Meritorious Honor Award from the Department of State. Michael and his wife, Karen, homeschooled their five children. During their forty-year marriage, they both served in many capacities within the church, most notably with children and youth ministries; they worked together for ten years as Commander and Secretary of their church's Awana ministries. Michael, a Kentucky native, continued his career with the United States Department of Agriculture until his seven-year fight with an incurable form of cancer led him to retire. He and Karen spent his short retirement in Princeton, Kentucky. See less
