Mervyn Peake

Mervyn Peake(1911-1968) was born in China and moved to England in 1923. He attended the Royal Academy Schools in the 1930s. During World War II he served with the Royal Artillery and the Royal Engineers. During this period he began writing Titus Groan, the first of the 'Gormenghast' novels.
