Melody Bridges is the artistic director of the Worthing WOW Festival in England. After studying English and Drama at Cambridge University, Melody Bridges directed a large ambitious musical at the Edinburgh fringe. She won a place at a London drama school and after assistant directing on a number of fringe shows started working at an award winning documentary company. She worked her way up from researcher to assistant producer and finally developed, wrote, produced and directed two television series. After winning a place on the prestigious film-directing course at New York University she enjoyed filming in the USA before moving back to England after the birth of her son. Now focusing on writing for stage, radio and TV, her first full length play, PUSH! (a comedy drama about motherhood) was given a rehearsed reading at Theatre Royal Stratford East. In addition to contributing to Celluloid Ceiling - through her network of contacts in New York, Los Angeles and the London television world - she writes a weekly page for a newspaper. Melody had six short plays performed in 2013 and was recently awarded the New Buds Award from New Writing South. In 2014, Bridges was a Finalist as Influential Woman of the Year at the NatWest Venus Awards. She regularly speaks at events about women in the media, and educational advancement. She has been invited to present a TEDx talk about the importance of raising aspirations, and challenging stories of failure in order to achieve ultimate success.
