Maryanne Maggio Hanisch's writing and illustrating is inspired by her extensive travels in the USA and abroad, and informed by her wealth of experiences as an educator. Maryanne Maggio Hanisch's writing and illustrating is inspired by her extensive travels in the USA and abroad, and informed by her wealth of experiences as an educator. She has taught a wide range of ages, from second grade through high school, including regular education, remedial reading and math, and art; all leading to her becoming the Gifted & Talented Specialist for over 15 years in her school district. She was a contributor to the Centennial Edition of Butler, NJ - In Story and Pictures 1901-2001, and currently to the online Italian Notebook. She contributed illustrations and stories to Cooking Up the Pyramid: An Early Childhood Nutrition Curriculum (Katherine M. Brieger, MA, RD, CDE; 1993). Her vintage watercolor scene of the Butler Railroad Station hangs in the Butler Museum. MMH has painted with oils, acrylics, and watercolors for many years.
