Mary Jane Salyers, a naive of East Tennessee, earned a BA degree from Carson Newman University with a major in English and a minor in history. After teaching English and social studies in secondary schools for fifteen years, she earned a masters from Indiana University. She completed her 34 years of teaching as a college instructor. After teaching English and social studies in secondary schools for fifteen years, she earned a masters from Indiana University. She completed her 34 years of teaching as a college instructor. Following retirement from Robert Morris College in Chicago, she wrote her first novel, Appalachian Daughter, published in 2014. Appalachian Memory: A Survivor's Tale is her second novel. She now lives with her husband, Bill Salyers, in Hillsborough. North Carolina. They have three daughters, four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. See less
