Marion Katz
Marion Katz (PhD, Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, Chicago) is Professor of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at New York University. She is the author of The Birth of the Prophet Muhammad: Devotional Purity in Sunni Islam (Routledge, 20078), Prayer in Islamic Thought and Practice (Cambridge, 2013), and Women in the Mosque: A History of Legal Thought and Social Practice (Columbia, 2014), among other books. Her interests include the influence of Islamic law on social practices.
