Marie A. Bernard, MD, is the Donald W. Reynolds Chair in Geriatric Medicine, and Professor and Chairman of the Donald W. Reynolds Department of Geriatrics at University of Oklahoma. She is also Associate Chief of Staff for Geriatrics and Extended Care at the Oklahoma City Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She is Chairman of the Board of the Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Programs (ADGAP) and Immediate Past President of the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education. Dr. Bernard's research interests include nutrition and function in aging populations, with particular emphasis upon ethnic minorities. She serves or has served on the following committees and boards: Institute of Medicine Committee, The Future Health Care Workforce for Older Americans; Chair, National Research Advisory Council, Department of Veterans Affairs; Board of Directors - American Geriatrics Society, Alliance for Aging Research, and International Longevity Center; Editorial Boards - Journal of Gerontology Medical Sciences and The Gerontologist. She is past chair of the Clinical Medicine Section of the Gerontological Society of America and Past President of ADGAP.
