St. Margaret Mary Alacoque was born Marguerite Marie Alacoque at Lhautecour, France, in 1647. Even as a young child, she preferred prayer and silence to ordinary recreation, possessing a great love for the holy Sacrament of the Eucharist. A mystic, she also experienced visions of our Lord while still young, and took her religious habit in 1671.
