Margaret C. Lee is Associate Professor of African Studies in the Department of African and Afro American Studies, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of a research project on "The New Scramble for Africa," jointly undertaken by the Dag Hammarskjold Foundation, the Nordic Africa Institute and the Institute for Strategic Studies.
