MANU HERBSTEIN is the Ghanaian/South African author of Ama, a Story of the Atlantic Slave Trade which won the 2002 Commonwealth Writer's Prize for the Best First Book. Brave Music of a Distant Drum, a sequel to Ama, won an honourable mention in the 2011 Burt Award for Ghana. The Boy who Spat in Sargrenti's Eye won the 2016 Creative Book of the Year Award of the African Literature Association.
