Major Matthew "Chris" Wingate earned his commission as a Medical Service Corps Officer through Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) at Texas Christian University (TCU) in 2003. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from TCU in Fort Worth, Texas and a Master of Science Degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. His professional military education includes: Command and General Staff College, Health Service Plans, Operations, Intelligence and Security Course, Aeromedical Evacuation Officer Pre-Command Course, UH60 A/L/M Methods of Instruction and Instructor Pilot Course, UH-60M Qualification Course, SERE (High Risk), Aviation Captain's Career Course, MEDEVAC Doctrine Course, Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course, and AMEDD Officer Basic Course. Major Wingate became the Executive Officer of 2nd Battalion, 501st General Support Battalion in June 2019. His previous assignments include: Brigade Operations Officer, 62nd Medical Brigade; Commander, Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment; Chief of Operations and Aeromedical Evacuation Officer, 159th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) and Assistant S3, 7th Battalion, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Research Instructor Pilot & Flight Operations Officer, United States Aeromedical Research Laboratory at Fort Rucker, Alabama; Assistant S3 and Flight Operations Officer, 2nd Battalion, 4th CAB; Detachment Commander/Executive Officer, Forward Support MEDEVAC Platoon Leader and Section Leader, Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 4th CAB; and Aeromedical Evacuation Officer and Assistant S3, 4th CAB while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas; and Gold Bar Recruiter at TCU ROTC, Fort Worth, Texas. Major Wingate's combat and operational deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07, Operation Iraqi Freedom 08-10, Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Freedom Sentinel and Resolute Support, Operation Atlantic Resolve where he deployed as the Aviation Task Force OIC to OAR-S in Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, and Turkey, and Puerto Rico in support of Hurricane Maria disaster relief. Major Wingate's awards and decorations include, Bronze Star (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Meritorious Service Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), Air Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (with two Oak Leaf Clusters), Army Achievement Medal (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal (with one Campaign Star), Iraq Campaign Medal (with four Campaign Stars), Global War on Terrorism-Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism-Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (4), the NATO Medal, the Meritorious Unit Citation (with one Oak Leaf Cluster), and the Senior Aviation Badge.
