Lorenzo Imbesi is an architect, PhD and Professor of Industrial Design at Sapienza University of Rome, coordinating the Design Unit of the Department of Planning, Design and Technology. He has been a Faculty at Carleton University until 2013 (Ottawa, Canada), where he was Chair of the Master of Design MDes. Over the years, he has been Visiting Professor for a number of International Universities, while teaching, lecturing and organizing workshops (Columbia, Hong Kong Polytechnic, University of San Diego, Emily Carr University, University of Calgary, University of Toronto). He was ICCS fellow - Canada Government for two years in a row and member of the Research Board of National and European researches (AHRB/EPSRC, CEE-COST). Critic and essayist for many reviews and journals, he was co-director of the magazine DIID - Disegno Industriale until 2011 and at the moment he is co-editor of 'Design Principles and Practices: an International Journal' (Common Ground Research Networks, Champaign), director of 'FIELDS. An Interdisciplinary Design Journal' and member of the editorial advisory board of The Design Journal (Bloomsbury Publishing, London). Also he is author of few papers selected in peer review for recognized international journals, periodical scientific reviews, and has curated books and monographic issues. Among his works, he is author of InterAction by Design (2009), 09 YoungDesign (2009), Ethics & Design (2008), D_Generation (2007). He is keynote speaker, chair and organizer for several international conferences (Design Principles and Practices, DMI, Cumulus), and a curator of design exhibitions and events. Member of the Executive Board of EAD since 2011 (European Academy of Design - www.ead.lancs.ac.uk), he was representative of Carleton University and a member of the General Assembly at Cumulus Association (International Association of Universities and Colleges of Art, Design and Media - http: //www.cumulusassociation.org), where at the moment he is co-chair of the Working Group on design scientific research.
