Linda Baker, a native Angeleno, grew up in a neighborhood scented with the sweet smell of surrounding commercial bakeries. As a single woman, a dental hygienist and no immediate prospects for marriage, Linda decided to marry herself, according her the opportunity to enjoy a wedding cake. Her trailblazing nuptials have influenced countless others to follow in her path for true self love. Prior to the Internet, her 1993 wedding drew media attention from all over the world, including television appearances, radio interviews, newspaper and magazine articles as well as the inspiration for the Lifetime Original Network movie, "I Me Wed". Cake Girl takes us on her adventures as a young baker, to becoming a cake connoisseur; to a bakery owner imposter, in order to catch the attention of a famous food critic; to her unrelenting quest for her own wedding cake. For nine years, Linda ran A.N.G.E.L.S. Day, (Animals Needing Generous Endowments of Love and Support) a non-profit organization for low-income seniors whose pets were in need of veterinary care, medicine and daily essentials. She currently resides in Southern California with her beloved dog, Star Lady and cat Mr. Bitty, of whom both prefer the smell of freshly baked cakes over her newfound love of guitar playing. See less
