"Earnest" is the first musical for which he has written the book as well, which he acknowledges was only possible because he had Oscar Wilde as a collaborator. It is also the first of his musicals to be a finalist and given the opportunity to be fully produced at the New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF) competitions for 2012 and 2013.
