Laura L. Koppes is owner/president of LK Associates, a human resources, organizational development, and leadership consulting firm. Prior to full-time consulting, she worked in higher education, with the most recent appointment as associate vice president of institutional effectiveness and associate professor of industrial-organizational (I-O) psychology. As a U.S. Fulbright Scholar, she taught and conducted research at the University of Hradec Kralove and University of Pardubice in the Czech Republic. Laura established the position of Historian for the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) and contributed to the preservation of SIOP's history and I-O psychology through international and national presentations, publications, and other documents. She served as Membership Chair on the Executive Committee of the Society for the History of Psychology (American Psychological Association-Division 26). Her interests include leadership, organizational effectiveness, motivation, cross-cultural differences, climate and culture (making great places to work), and history of I-O psychology. She is a member of SIOP and is currently the Editor of "TIP "("The Industrial-Organizational Psychologist)." She is also a member of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the International Association for Applied Psychology, and the Society for Human Resources Management. She earned her B.S., M.A., and Ph.D. in I-O psychology from The Ohio State University. Paul W. Thayer is professor emeritus of psychology at North Carolina State University, where he was head of the department from 1977 to 1992. Before that, he worked at the Life Insurance Marketingand Research Association for 21 years, rising from training researcher, through research vice president to senior vice president. He has been a consultant for many arms of federal and state governments, and hundreds of companies in the U.S. and Canada. He is author or co-author of dozens of articles on selection, training, job design and related areas, and with McGehee, the classic text," Training in Business and Industry. "He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Psychological Society, the American Psychological Association, and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He has held all elective offices of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, including president, and is recipient of its Distinguished Professional Contributions Award and Distinguished Service Contributions Award. He served six years as Treasurer of the American Psychological Society. He was on the editorial board of" Personnel Psychology" from 1967 to 1996, and is currently on its Book Review Board. He is President of the SIOP Foundation, and serves on the Technical Advisory Board of ePredix, a consulting firm providing selection services on the net. He claims to be retired.Andrew J. Vinchur is Head of the Psychology Department at Lafayette College. He received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Rutgers and his M.S. and Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Memphis State University (now known as the University of Memphis).
