Lanayre D. Liggera holds an M.A. in literature from Tufts University and another from Goddard-Cambridge Women's Studies. She was a member of a feminist band, the New Harmony Sisterhood, which researched the women's history, finding old songs, or writing new ones, using song as the most mnemonic device. Later, her childhood fascination with early aviation re-emerged, which led to a study of the Great War.
