Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche was born and raised in pre-invasion Tibet and trained in Gochen and Riwoche monasteries. He and his family escaped to northern India during the Chinese invasion. He came to America in the 1980s. He founded his own press and published works in Tibetan and English with over thirty volumes of his own teachings. He died in 2012 at his monastic center in upstate New York. Khenchen was among the last generation of Tibetans who were fully trained in the monastic system of old Tibet. He grew up in a semi-nomadic family in rural Tibet where there were no roads, no vehicles of any kind, no wheels, no electricity or modern convenience. He was literally throw from this situation into the modern world where he ended up living in Manhattan before establishing dharma centers all over America and the world with his headquarters in upstate New York State.
