He has been declared a Prohibitive Immigrant in two African countries, and as his University of Botswana students said in 2005, "by two Ians" (the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, meeting in Banjul in May 2010, found comprehensively in his favour). He has published a number of books and articles, "Cuba's Defence of Angola Against Pretoria and Washington" in Journal of Asian and African Studies (2015) and "Democracy and Development in Botswana" in Journal of Contemporary African Studies (2016).
