Kate O'Donnell is the pen name of Nancy Kephart Garcia because, contrary to the surnames, she is of Irish, Scot and Welsh descent. She is a fourth generation Montanan, was raised in Missoula and attended the University of Montana. She now lives in Palo Alto, California, with her family.
