Josie Olsvig is a Southern author who lives in the Sea Islands of South Carolina in the town of Beaufort. Before commencing her writing life, Josie was an attorney and social worker who spent her career addressing child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual assault. Her call to service was spurred by early life experiences growing up in poverty in the inner city with hardship, strife, and violence. Josie worked for over thirty years as a public servant and advocate. In the twilight of her career, Josie chose to serve on a statewide committee to combat human trafficking in her home state of Ohio. This professional background has served her well in her current pursuits. Her first book, Growing Up Gullah in the Lowcountry, is a children's picture book about the Gullah culture, heirs' property, and the history of Charleston. Gullah Tears was Josie's debut historical fiction novel; Freedom's Tears is the second novel in the series. See less
