John Veverka received his BSc (1976) and MSc (1978) degrees in Interpretive Services from Ohio State University (OSU). John Veverka received his BSc (1976) and MSc (1978) degrees in Interpretive Services from Ohio State University (OSU). During his time at OSU, he developed and taught a course on Interpretive Master Planning and was also on the staff of the Ohio State University Museum of Zoology and spent five summers as an Interpretive Naturalist with Ohio State Parks.In 1981 John returned to Michigan to teach introductory and advanced interpretation courses at Michigan State University, where he was also enrolled in the PhD program (1981-1985) and taught recreational learning theory, consumer behavior, recreational marketing, survey research strategies and heritage economics as part of his advanced interpretation courses.His work as a consultant in interpretive master planning, heritage tourism development and heritage site management, spans over 40 years and takes him all over the world, both lecturing and working on heritage projects.John is President of John Veverka & Associates Heritage Consulting and Director of the Heritage Interpretation Training Center which provides 44 college-level online courses in heritage site interpretation and media development).
