Carlson, a Fellow in the American Association of Pastoral Counselors and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland, received a BA degree from Waynesburg College (PA) in 1969, an M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1973 and an MS in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College (MD) in 1984, thereafter joining the staff of the Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Greater Baltimore (1985 to 1988). From 1988 to 1995 he served as a member of the clinical staff and administrator at the Pastoral Counseling and Consultation Centers of Washington. An ordained Presbyterian minister with a wife and three children, he served congregations in Lockport, NY and Hyattsville, MD prior to establishing his practice at The Counseling Ministry at Oaklands in 1995 where he presently counsels individuals, couples and groups, and works with many survivors of abuse.
