John P. Cardie began his love for Checkers in the 1940's. In 1964 he joined a Chess Club in New Jersey and has been actively playing both Checkers and Chess ever since. He currently volunteers his time teaching and coordinating tournaments for both Checkers and Chess at the local Library, Elementary School and Senior Center. John is also a contracted "guest lecturer" for cruise ships and has conducted seminars and tournaments on a dozen different cruise ships for both guests and crew members....See more

He currently volunteers his time teaching and coordinating tournaments for both Checkers and Chess at the local Library, Elementary School and Senior Center. John is also a contracted "guest lecturer" for cruise ships and has conducted seminars and tournaments on a dozen different cruise ships for both guests and crew members. He currently resides in Colorado along with his wife, children and 6 grandchildren. His deep passion for Checkers, and its benefits for young people, have motivated him to donate the proceeds from this book to the American Checker Federation youth program. See less
