John L. Hogg is Professor of Chemistry and Thamann Professor of Undergraduate Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry at Southwestern State College in Oklahoma and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas and joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in 1975. John L. Hogg is Professor of Chemistry and Thamann Professor of Undergraduate Teaching Excellence at Texas A&M University. He received his B.S. degree in chemistry at Southwestern State College in Oklahoma and his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas and joined the faculty at Texas A&M University in 1975. He has about 40 publications in the general areas of physical organic and bioorganic chemistry. He has received numerous teaching awards, including the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students Faculty Distinguished Achievement Awards in Teaching, College of Science teaching award (2002) and the Mervin and Annette Peters Advising Award as the outstanding undergraduate faculty advisor at Texas A&M in 2004. Dr. Hogg was one of the first four faculty members at Texas A&M to receive the title of University Professor of Undergraduate Teaching Excellence (1996), and he was honored with the named professorship he now holds in 2002. He has performed an estimated 250 chemistry demonstration shows for over 40,000 people. See less
