John Briere, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, and a clinical psychologist at the Department of Emergency Psychiatric Services of LAC-USC Medical Center. Dr. Briere is on the editorial boards of several scholarly journals and is on the board of directors of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). He consults to local, national and international agencies on the topics of trauma, violence, and research methodology, and regularly presents workshops on the assessment and treatment of psychological trauma.
