Joel Seligman
Joel Seligman was the 10th President of the University of Rochester from 2005 to 2018. He earlier served as the Dean of Washington University School of Law, and the University of Arizona College of Law. Joel Seligman was the 10th President of the University of Rochester from 2005 to 2018. He also held faculty positions at the University of Michigan, George Washington, and Northeastern University Law. The author of twenty books and fifty articles, his publications include a multivolume treatise on Securities Regulation co-written with the late Harvard Law Professor Louis Loss and former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes. Two books focused on the history of financial regulation, The Transformation of Wall Street: A History of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Misalignment: The New Financial Order and the Failure of Financial Regulation. He served on the Board of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority from 2007 to 2016 and from 2011 to 2016 co-chaired the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council which helped raise over $800 million for Rochester and adjacent communities.
