Jiu-Hwa Upshur received her B.A. at the University of Sydney in Australia and Ph.D. in history at the University of Michigan. She is the author of two catalogs on Chinese art and many articles on Chinese history and has lived and traveled extensively in China, Taiwan, and other parts of Asia.
