Jeremy D. Mayer is an Assistant Professor at the George Mason School of Public Policy who specializes in presidential elections, public opinion, racial politics, and foreign policy. He has published widely on American politics and his book "Running on Race: Racial Politics in Presidential Campaigns 1960-2000' (Random House, 2002) was selected by Washington Monthly as one of the best political books of 2002. He is the author of the forthcoming "America Media Politics' (McGraw Hill) and is working on a new book examining public opinion in the U.S. about the Middle East. Dr. Mayer is the recipient of the 2002 Rowman and Littlefield Award for Innovative Teaching in Political Science, the only national award for teaching of its kind. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Brown University in 1990 and his Ph.D. in American Government from Georgetown University in 1996. Before joining the George Mason School of Public Policy in 2003, Dr. Mayer was a visiting assistant professor at Georgetown University from 2001-2003 and an assistant professor at Kalamazoo College from 1996-2001.
