Janet Watson studied at the University of Exeter and at SOAS, London. She has worked at the Universities of Edinburgh, Durham, and Salford and has held visiting posts at the Universi ties of Heidelberg (2003-2004) and Oslo (2004-2005). She is currently an Honorary Professor at the University of St Andrews and a Visiting Professor at Sultan Qaboos University.
