As part of his efforts to translate theory into practice, he is an author of the Career Thoughts Inventory (CTI) along with Gary Peterson, Janet Lenz, Robert Reardon, and Denise Saunders. In 1990 he received the National Career Development Association Merit Award. He was elected as an Overseas Fellow at the National Institute for Careers Education and Counseling in Cambridge, United Kingdom (1997 to the present). He was appointed as a Visiting Professor at the University of Joensuu in Finland (1999), at the University of Derby in the United Kingdom (2001 to the present), and at the University of Jyv?skyl? in Finland (2002 to the present).
