James McLachlan was born somewhere between Peru and the Equator on a jet airliner. In his youth he gained two entries in the Guinness Book of Records. One for the fastest assent on K2, the world's second highest mountain - with a time of 14 days - and the second for highest number of lies told about mountain climbing.
